From September 1 to 3, we ran Move, Make, Be Seen, a three-day creative dance, film, and music intensive for young adults with intellectual disabilities ages 15 to 22. The program focused on adaptive movement, creative agency, and collaborative filmmaking, all in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
Each day started with a yoga session to ground participants before diving into the creative work. From there, participants explored site-specific improvisation and dance classes, music classes, and film classes, creating a short film set in the natural beauty of the surrounding environment.
There was a screening on Day 3, giving participants the chance to see their own work on screen.
Move, Make, Be Seen was presented in partnership with AHRC NYC's camp, The Lodge, whose 2026 sleepaway sessions (alongside sister camp Camp Anne) ran June 16 through August 21.
